Lakshmi holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from King’s College, London, and graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University’s School of General Studies with distinction in Visual Arts. As a Master’s student at Columbia, she specialized in the interdisciplinary study of political movements and produced one of the first academic digital platforms on South Asian, Middle Eastern, and African Studies. She has worked as an investigative intern with the Georgetown University Criminal Justice Clinic, and as a researcher with Solitary Watch. At law school, Lakshmi was Vice-President of the American Constitution Society, a facilitator with Street Law’s Parnell Prison Project, and an Articles Editor with the Michigan Journal of Gender & Law. Lakshmi spent her 1L Summer as a Legal Research Associate with the Open Society Justice Initiative, and her 2L Summer working with private sector actors on sustainable development, access to justice, and rule of law initiatives in India and the Middle East.
